New trouble is brewing for the embattled Manchester United owners, with the club's fans planning a fresh round of protests.

The Glazer family has been at loggerheads with the fans who have often accused them of not investing in the club.

The fans are now planning on boycotting Manchester United's next home game against Liverpool on August 22. The Daily Mail reports that this will be another way to send a message to the owners.

United have fallen off the pace of Europe's elite since the exit of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. The club has not won the Premier League title since Ferguson's departure, while the last trophy they won in any competition was under Jose Mourinho six years ago.

The club's transfer policy has also been under intense scrutiny over the years. Recent reports of a possible move for former West Ham striker Marko Arnautović angered the club's fans. The Athletic reported that United have since pulled out of the deal to sign the Bologna striker.

The fans intend to use the game against Liverpool to express their frustrations. It was the same fixture that was marred by controversy last season after fans stormed the pitch before kickoff.

This time, they intend to stay away altogether. United play Brentford next, looking to bounce back from their opening day defeat to Brighton before the Old Trafford matchup.

Sports Brief had earlier reported that former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has offered to play for free for his former club as their poor transfer season continues.

Manchester United was set for a major transfer spree this summer after a lethargic season that saw them record their lowest-ever tally in history. New boss Erik ten Hag was supposed to spearhead the summer activity.

However, the club has only brought in Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez. The striking department remains a major concern, especially with Cristiano Ronaldo's future still uncertain.
